100,000th person attends the World’s Greatest Hobby on Tour

Lisa Schachterle of Colorado was the 100,000th person to attend the World’s Greatest Hobby on Tour. In recognition of this event she was awarded a model train set for her and her family. Her attendance at the Denver World’s Greatest Hobby on Tour show on Sunday February 27th, 2005 marked a major milestone for the World’s Greatest hobby on Tour Shows. The four World’s Greatest Hobby Shows achieved a total attendance in excess of 105,000 people. The shows ranged in attendance from 19,000 at Edison, NJ to a high of 33,000 in Saint Louis, MO. More than 50% of the attendees had never attended a train show before.

David Swanson, Chairman of the show stated, “I am very pleased with the number of people we have been able to introduce to the hobby of model railroading. I think we have created a very effective vehicle to promote the model railroad industry”.

The World’s Greatest Hobby on Tour’s first season was a rousing success. The most popular attractions of the show included:

- Huge operating model train layouts.
- The children’s train play land with over 100 Thomas The Tank Engines.
- Hundreds of booths of model railroad manufacturers, hobby shops and organizations.
- The Walt Disney Railroad Story Exhibit.
- The entertainment including a live band.

The World’s Greatest Hobby on Tour is currently making plans on how to promote model railroading in the future. Announcement of their future plans will be made on their web site www.wghshow.com in May 2005.
