Building the Next Generation of Model Railroaders
The World’s Greatest Hobby on Tour continues to
receive assistance from people who want to share their love of the hobby
with the general public and build the next generation of model railroader.
Here are some of the organizations and individuals personally promoting
this great hobby to the next generation:
• Model railroad clubs. At every show there is
a number of model railroad clubs that bring their operating model railroads.
Just some of the many clubs at the shows are the Northern Virginia N-TRAK,
North Suburban Large Scale Operators, Fort Bend Model Railroad Club,
SwissRails, and the Utah Garden Railroad Society.
• Individuals with operating layouts. Model railroaders
like Joe Keyser and his Spirit of America layout and David George and
his Golden ~ Blackhawk and Central City RR have volunteered their time
to display their craftsmanship at the shows. Their positive attitudes
and enthusiasm for this great hobby have been seen by thousands of people
at the shows.
• World’s Greatest Hobby Ambassadors. Many
have volunteered to share their knowledge and enthusiasm of model railroading
with show attendees. Being there to demonstrate a particular scenery
technique or answer a basic track work question can be the thing that
inspires fledgling model railroaders to get more involved with the hobby.
Of course the model railroad industry, manufacturers,
publishers, and retailers are crucial to promoting the hobby and many
are actively involved in sponsoring the show as well.
The World’s Greatest Hobby on Tour is a model
railroad show designed to appeal to the masses and to introduce the
general public to the hobby in an exciting, family-oriented atmosphere.
